My friend and I arrived in Toronto at The Warehouse at around 7:30pm to ensure that we were first in line for the concert. We had lots of time to waste cause the doors weren't to open until 9:30, so we went for a walk around the building where we heard music. We got to the other side and we could hear Foxy Brown doing her sound check, rehearsing "Oh Yeah". After listening a while we decided to back around front and take our places for our long wait. When we got back around, there was a huge silver stretched limo out front, we didn't really think much of it, we just thought that she arrived as we left. An old white haired man came over and asked it we were fans, and we said yes, of course.
He asked us what was a hot song by her right now and we said "Oh Yeah". He continued on to tell us that she, Foxy Brown, would be coming out in about 15 minutes. In about 20 minutes, out came Gavin, another Ill Na Na rapper (don't remember his name), a dj from Ill Na Na (dont' remember his name either) and the one and only Foxy Brown. They all walked to the limo, as Foxy was getting in she stopped and looked over the top of the car for a minute, then got in. The dj was the last to come to the car and he waved at as, and we waved back as he got in the car. Then about a minute later, the door opened again, and the dj waved for my friend and I to come over to the car. We walked over and he shook our hands and introduced himself and opened the door all the way. As we got to the door, Foxy jumped over from the other side of the seat to get closer too us, then she said "hello" and shook my friends hand, and then mine. She was more beautiful in person than I have ever seen in any picture. She asked us if we were going to the show and where we were from.
We told her (my friend) Trenton, and Foxy said "Oh, your from Jersey?" and my friend said, nah Ontario, then she asked me where I was from and I told her about an hour North of Ottawa. She asked how long it took for us to get here and my friend said 2 hours and I told her I had been driving since 2pm. Foxy said "You drove all that way to see me?" I said yes, and that I had been trying to see her forever, since the R.Kelly concert that didn't happen and the Erykah Badu concert that I couldn't remember the name of, and she said "Smokin Grooves" and I said yeah. Then she told her limo driver to get her some posters, so brought her some of her Candy posters and after she got a marker she made them out to us, one for my friend and one for me that said "To Jason, Love Ya, Foxy Brown!" She was so sweet and beautiful. She talked to us for a while, then said she would see us at the concert. My friend and I waited, and waited, until they finally let us in the venue at 11pm, not 9:30 as planned.
After getting in we stood at the very front and center of the stage. A dj played rap and hip hop and some reggae as the place slowly filled up. Finally at 1:45am, Gavin came on stage and told everyone from the bar to get close to the stage that the show would be starting in 15 minutes, and they were gonna tear it up! Foxy's dj came on stage, and started with the same news audio clippings as Broken Silence, and a few minutes later Foxy came out wearing beige leather outfit, kind of like hot pants and a sleeveless top with a low V and a big belt, similar to the out fits she has been wearing lately, and some heals and glasses. Foxy looked hot as usual, she busted through her rhymes with power and soul, never missing a word or beat. She did some songs from each album Ill Na Na - Get me home/I'll be, Chyna Doll - Hot Spot/I Can't and then some of her remixes and old songs Thong Song remix, Aint No N***a, Big Bad Mama, and then a bunch from her new album Broken Silence. Foxy and Gavin split the crowd and played a song for each side to sing along to, to see whos side was the livest, Foxy's side won! She did Candy, Table will Turn and a short freestyle, similar to the one she did on the BET Rapcity show, then she started to talk a bit about how she don't fuck with rap bitches, but they always wanna be talking shit about her, and how they all wanna be having an accent now, and that she and Pepa are the only originals able to spit yard shit, and that all the others were fake.
Then she busted into Run Dem. Then she started to do some reggae, part of Sorry I can't hold you, and some other reggae songs. Then she did BK Anthem and then asked if any of the ladies had a man that they loved? Then she said that her man was here, and she said he was coming out. The music for Oh Yeah started to bump as Spragge Benz came out doing his chorus singin, and Foxy busted into Oh Yeah as the crowd went wild! They bounced around the stage and Spragga did a song of his while Foxy danced, and sang along. Then they said that they had to go cause the bar was telling them to end the show. Foxy said she loved everyone and Gav said that he wanted another peaceful rap event and told everyone to put their peace signs in the air and on the count of three yell peace. Then they were out!
I would rate this performance a definite 9.5/10, losing only .5 for being only an hour, if it was longer it would have been a 10, and I have seen a lot of concerts, TLC, Mariah, Da Brat, Jay Z, DMX, Meth/Red, Mary J, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Puffy, Lil Kim, Busta, Dru Hill, etc.... and Foxy was by far the best female rapper I have seen, Kim was too squeaky and off beat... Foxy was hot! I was just trying not to forget anything, oh Foxy said it was Gavins birthday. They were having an after party at the Warehouse, I had to go, cause I worked at 7am and I had to make a 5 hour time in 4 hours as it was.
