November 1999 News, Rumours and Random Thoughts

November 30, 1999

Last day of the month, good thing 'cause this news page was starting to take long to load. What's up people. Yesterday I sent the first mailout to everyone on my mailing list (G-Book) and I offered an advanced preview to some rare Foxy songs in mp3. If you're a Fox fan and not on the mailing list, you're definitely missing out. All you have to do is sign the guestbook! So y'all who've supported me since day one might wanna get on that (JR, Nicky$, Lil' Ant, I'm talkin' to you!) I'll send mailouts either once or twice a week. If you signed the guestbook but don't want any mail, just let me know and I'll leave you alone.

On to Foxy news. I'm hearing that the Ill Na Na herself is in Paris right now definitely doing her thing. You can find out about that in the new ELLE and In Style magazines. Mad shoutouts to Kevin for that news.

Well the site's definitely getting a lotta luv, I haven't heard from haters in a while. Busy school week so don't commit suicide if I forget to update much. Keep coming back though. I'm out. (Dayum, these columns are cool!) November 29, 1999

What up y'all. No real Foxy news today, but I added three rare songs to the Audio section, they're hype. Also put more colors on the front page. You can sooooo tell that I work at a newspaper just by looking at that layout. I'm trying to actually make the website look like a magazine. I put up November's Poll Results a bit earlier than usual, check 'em out. If you're bored, read some Haterade. Later dawgs.

November 28, 1999

In today's news, Firm Family member Cormega has left Violator, a subsidiary of Def Jam Records. Since Foxy left Violator too, that might affect the way the next Firm album turns out production wise. Cormega's Album drops on April 4th. I hear the Affirmative Action Remix will be on it, so Foxy'll be there. By the way I put that song in My Audio section today, along with a blazin' hot Freestyle by Foxy and the Firm.

People wanna know if I'm gonna shut down my site. Maybe, maybe not. After a few months when Foxy's album comes out and I've sold a few unreleased mixtapes, we'll see what happens. So I'll be here for a while. Thanks for your support!

Random Thought: If Foxy were her real name, and she married Kurupt, her full name would be Foxy Brown-Brown.

Time for the news. For those waiting for a new song by or featuring the Ill Nana, Nature's album is scheduled for a January 25 release date. It is tentatively titled "For All Seasons" and as I mentionned earlier this month, Foxy's on there.

Some more good news, there's a new Firm album that will supposedly hit record stores by Summer 2000. It is currently untitled, but you can still start counting down the days. I don't know what they're gonna call themselves, since they got into legal problems with their name last year. ("The Firm" has already been copyrighted by a rock band) Maybe they'll get away with using the name again next year, or they could do like Ruff Ryders and pass the album off as a compilation. It's not a major issue though, after all the name "Foxy Brown" was already copyrighted by a reggae artist back in the early nineties.

Foxy's also gonna be on Shyne's new album entitled "The Truth," I don't know the release date right now, but the song is called "Westcoast Bitch" and you've probably heard it already over at Sam's Foxy Site. Now here's where my problem lies. How you gonna call a song "Westcoast Bitch"?? That's gotta be the worst move since Callin' Out Names. How many rappers gotta get shot before this East/West bullshit ends?! I'm only saying that because if you've heard the song, you know that it's all about Brooklyn propaganda and has nothing to do with Cali or LA.

New Messageboard, this is the final one whether y'all like it or not. Personally I couldn't be happier with the choice. Also added a Haterade section, it'll probably be updated tomorrow. A special Pic of the Week added today.

November 26, 1999

That quote of the day has to be one of my all-time favorites.

Anyways, Foxy is in the new Sister to Sister, she's got a torn picture of her and Kurupt with a paragraph that says the break-up was about "Calling Out Names". I beleive that info is outdated though, since Kurupt was just on the radio apologizing to everybody and saying how much he loves his baby girl. I wouldn't beleive those teeny bopper magazines (Black Beat, Word Up, Street, Right On etc...) word for word because they're all based on rumors anyway.

I know I said I wouldn't mention Lil' Kim in the news again, but it's inevitable, especially since she keeps indirectly dissing Foxy in every song on her promo album pre-release. Obviously it's a crass way of gaining record sales.

Word is going around that Foxy is in Europe right now modelling Calvin Klein. Maybe that's what the picture in last month's One World Magazine was all about. It has her walking down a runway surrounded by white folks.

That's it for today's news. I'm still gonna harass you to sign the guestbook though. I hope you know it's gonna serve as a mailing list for exclusive Foxy Brown ish, so there's an incentive. Later.

November 25, 1999

Happy Thanksgiving you Americans. We Canadians celebrated it over a month ago.

Got plans for New Year's Eve? Why not spend it at New York's Colliseum starting at 9pm with Foxy Brown and Busta Rhymes?! They'll be performing together on December 31, 1999 and January 1, 1999. Buy your tickets here.

In other news, Firm Fiasco, webmaster of the Platinum Hot Spot, shut down his webpage, still claiming to have owned the best Foxy Site on the Internet, despite his highly infrequent updates. Dude said too many people were harassing him to maintain it so he decided to shut it down.

On the bright side, a really good Foxy Site just opened, it's tight, I don't remember the URL off hand but I'll put it up in the links. The only catch about this new one is that you need Java to get the best of the pages, and the main one takes long to load. Still, it's top notch! All these Foxy Sites popping up are making me consider shutting mine down. Don't be too surprised if I do.

November 22, 1999

Me hit shot wit' na bwoy 'naffi push me dey, likka idiot could still ride 'pon hook dey...

Gotta love that ruff Jamaican dialect. Anyways, I checked my stats and found that more than 30 people were here yesterday. NONE OF YOU signed my guestbook or messageboard, and I only got 2 emails all weekend. Sup with that? I hope you know that this new guestbook is going to serve as a mailing list for exclusive stuff to my site, including the mp3 files. So you'd best push that "G-Book" button right now, y'hear? I'm also open to suggestions for the site. (Polls, Top 5, Lyric Of The Day). I don't wanna feel like I'm doin' this for nothin. I'm a busy College student right in midterm, so if it's not worth updating daily, I'll just abandon the whole webpage alltogether. And you don't want that now, do you?

November 21, 1999

Check it out, a nice picture of Foxy Brown huggin' up Kurupt (lucky bastard!) in the Pics section. Also got a special treat for ya today. If you have Windows 95/98, you should download this Foxy Brown Desktop Theme right here. It's really nice, the wallpaper's hot, there's animated cursors and icons, and your computer plays "Get Me Home" when you startup and shutdown. It's kind of old though, based on her debut album. Enjoy. In return, you've gotta sign my new G-Book and drop me a line on the Board! Peace!

November 20, 1999

Lemme hear you say "Uhhhhhh!!" Na Na Na Na...

Holy shiznit! There I was, casually updating my site, Foxy's first album is playing on my CD-Rom, I'm waiting for a lyric of the day, then BAM! The title track comes on, and I press rewind to make sure I heard right. My Thoughts: Foxy is obviously responding to something Lil' Kim said, but I don't know what. Until now I used to wonder why Lil' Kim called her "Ladies Night" song "NOT TONIGHT." Also, in "You Can't Win" Kim talks about the same concert Foxy is, when she says "First on stage, like the river I glaze, leave you amazed, and point the fifth at the ribcage." All I know is that Foxy and Kim were friends in 1996 when Ill Na Na was released, so I'm very sure that these words were in the name of FRIENDLY competition at the time. Still, it's kinda funny.

Anyways, I got 'nuff news on this page to write a book! I should fax all this to Def Jam, see what they make of it. Anyway, in today's Foxy news, she's supposedly going to be on Willie D's (raw southern rapper) upcoming album next year, according to Anthony's Kim and Foxy Site. I suppose Foxy's gettin' mad props down south, first she teams up with Master P, then Mia X, then Juvenile, then Eightball & MJG, and now Willie D. I'd like to see her rap with Outkast though, that'd be wicked. Or Erykah Badu.

Okay, new messageboard, people. I didn't like the format of the old one, although I loved the posting activity that was goin' on. The whole site is still expanding, I've got a lot of plans and I'm handlin a ton of things at once, but I'm gettin there. I wanna thank y'all for helping me reach the 1000+ hits mark in less than a month! Peace!

November 19, 1999

Welcome back to my editorial, where Foxy always reigns supreme. In today's news, there's a new song in the works. Foxy's supposedly on DJ Clue's forthcoming album, which is currently untitled. I'm not talking about another mixtape, this one is going to be a follow up to Clue's platinum plus 'Professional' debut off of Def Jam. His sophomore album will be out in mid March, about a month from Foxy's War On My Soul April 18 release date. It's nice to see that Clue and Foxy are getting along, Foxy's on almost all of his mixtapes too. I know it's thanks to their friendship that I was able to hear Firm Biz about six months before it was released as a single.

Speaking of DJ Clue, I put up his version of Na Na Be Like. Check it out in the Audio section. I'm also testing a new guestbook. The new messageboard will arrive soon too. Expect a minor delay in the unreleased mixtapes, although I never did tell you when I'd start selling them. It's a surprise. This is called suspense.

November 18, 1999

Well, the drama between Foxy Brown and Lil' Kim has escalated to new heights. Both keep spittin' flames at each other, the latest reference being one of Lil' Kim's lines on Biggie's Born Again album. She says something to the effect of "Be glad I pushed my album back- I did your ass a favour." Sure Kim, whatever. Anyways, about my dissing her in yesterday's news, all the Fox haters were getting to me, so that's why I did. But if she wants to be "swallowin' babies" like she said in No Time, or if she wants to become a porn star, who am I to judge because it's her perogative. But next time I'll save my comments for the messageboard where they belong.

Just thought I'd let you guys know that I can't email any Foxy mp3s until after Nov. 20 (this weekend) because I'm having ISP trouble. I'll still be able to read your hate mail though, which is always fun. I may put up a hate mail section. Some of the email I've been getting is just too funny to describe.

Oh yeah, I'm also thinking of putting up a different messageboard, what do you think? I don't like this one because it doesn't split up into different pages, it doesn't notify of responses by email, it's tough to find the new messages, and on top of all that it's showing the wrong time. So if anyone knows where I can get a good messageboard tell me. That's it for today.

November 17, 1999

Sup Foxy fans, got some bad news for ya. For quite a while now we've been waiting to hear Foxy blaze a remix to 702's "You Don't Know," but I've just heard the remix and unfortuneately Foxy's not on it. Turns out it was just a rumor, all they actually did was change the beat. On the plus side, if you think about it long enough, the new beat almost sounds like a techno, house or electronic version of Na Na Be Like. But that's just my opinion.

Be sure to look out for my unreleased mixtapes section coming soon! (I won't say when yet!) If you think my audio section is good, my unreleased mixtapes are gonna knock you straight out your socks...

Fixed the link to Marcus and Nicky$'s Foxy Brown sites in the Links section. A couple of people have mailed me links to their Lil' Kim sites, but I think I'll only post those if I'm feeling in a good mood later. That's it for now.

November 16, 1999

According to the Vibewire, Foxy's fiancé Kurupt really has come to his senses and, after apologizing to everyone on various LA radio stations, he is even trying to have his East Coast diss track, 'Callin' Out Names' removed from his forthcoming CD. Executives at his record label, Antra entertainment, have a difference of opinion. They plan on leaving the song as a bonus track on the album because they feel that the controversial lyric content will boost record sales. The song disses DMX, Ruff Ryders (except Eve), the Firm, Foxy, Ja Rule and others. Right now Kurupt is concentrating on easing the tension between himself and the Ruff Ryders before the song claims yet another life. In case you didn't know, his bodyguard was shot and killed shortly after the song was released. We'll see what happens with the song when his CD hits retail outlets soon.

November 12, 1999

Kurupt was on an LA radio station recently. He said that Foxy was like both a wife and sister to him. He also apologized on air to DMX, trying to put an end to the beef between them over Kurupt's controversial song, "Callin' Out Names." Guess he didn't want to start any more east/west coast ish. Basically Kurupt explained that he had a long talk with fellow DPG member Snoop Dogg, who kinda stuck up for Foxy, telling him to let her do her thing and not to hate. Apparently not too too long ago Foxy was on California radio begging to get back with Kurupt anyways. Whatever, I guess I'm glad they're back together. Thanks to NinoBrown3 out in L.A. for the info.

As for the site, I fixed that bad link to Cormega's song, also added a new Foxy site to the links section. I'm glad so many Foxy sites are popping up now, this is really great! I'd like to see more people in the message board... please? C'mon, talk, argue, whatever. Don't front, because I know I get more than fifty hits a day which means that people are here. Don't forget to sign the guestbook too!

Rememberance Day

Well, the decision has been made, realaudio in the audio section. I'll send you the mp3 files by email if you really want the higher quality sound. Check Cormega and Foxy with "Slow Down Baby," it's hot. Also check my links and vote on the new poll question.

In (old?) Foxy News, I think y'all should go to Scour.net. Seek and ye'll find a documentary on Behind The Scenes of The Firm-The Album. There's a video interview with all of them, together and then seperately, like a documentary. Foxy has a lot to say, she talks a bit about how Phone Tap has never been done in rap before (rapping as if you're talking on a three way celly). Oh yeah, and there's an interview with Dr. Dre, (who's mentionned in the line of the day today!) He said he was impressed by how he worked with Foxy so efficiently. She came in, wrote her rhymes in half hour, recorded them, and was done! Dre said he must have spent only two hours with her in the studio, and he was impressed. So am I.

November 10,1999

I found a few more bugs on the site that were causing some (if not all) of the Netscape system crashes. It should be fixed now, so don't be afraid to turn your JavaScript back on. Got a few new shortcut URLs for the site. Also, I think I'll keep the line of the day up for a bit longer than usual, because I really like it. Shouts to Kevin for the other lyric ideas, I'll use one of yours next!

Well, looks like Lil' Kim took Foxy's advice and decided that she "better keep pushin' [her] shit back. (Whoa)" Her highly anticipated sophomore album, The Notorious KIM, has been bumped to a February release date. HA! Looks like neither Kim nor Charli Baltimore are ever gonna come out. Hope Foxy at least gives us a single from War On My Soul by then. I'm gonna need something to listen to while I wait. I hear Da Brat has a new one coming though.

November 9,1999

Lil' broad, five foot, talk big shit like...

Apparently Foxy Brown is getting dissed by her arch-nemesis Lil' Kim, yet again. This time it's in the new Source cover story where she says that Foxy Brown reminds her of the movie Single White Female. My thoughts on this? Like I said before I love Kim's music and all, but she's coming off rude by calling out my girl Foxy like that. Even though Foxy may dis Kim on wax, she's always had the dignity to put out a good word for her in interviews. And then Lil' Kim wants to talk about who's lacking respect?

Site-wise, some of you may have experienced some technical difficulties loading the site. Javascript, Netscape bugs, screen resolution, etc... I tried to fix it all yesterday but if you're still having problems I can't really help ya right now. Make sure you check my post about that in the messageboard.

Mp3 or realaudio? I'm still struggling to choose. I guess I'll try to have my cake and eat it too by putting up both, but I'm gonna give realaudio priority since it's easiest to upload. Look for major audio updates next week.

November 7,1999

Still nothing from Def Jam, but a good source tells me that Foxy's third album, War On My Soul, is scheduled for an April 18 release date. That sounds a lot more realistic than February to me. Think about it, if Foxy were coming out in February, we would have heard about it in mainstream media by now. Anyway, guest artists include Jay-Z, R Kelly, Janet Jackson, Next, Amil, Eve, Fiona Apple and Nino Brown. Foxy's not on Violator anymore, so the album will be produced by Trackmasters. Def Jam is usually on time with their release dates, so if April 18 is the one, expect that to stick, unlike other people who better keep pushin' their shit back. Whoa. In other news, someone told me that Foxy will continue modelling next seasons Calvin Klein gear. I hope she does underwear too!

Man, I'm pissed. Canada doesn't have a single urban radio station, not even ONE in the whole country. I guess that's why I'm always excited to hear WBLK and Hot97 when I'm in New York. Rap and R&B sells more than any other music genre, so people are pushing the CRTC to get on it quick. I know that has nothing to do with Foxy, but that's been on my mind for a while. It reminds me about how in the eighties MTV refused to play any black music, until Epic Records told them that they'd send nothing unless they aired Michael Jackson's "Thriller." Speaking of music videos, looks like the poll for our Favorite Foxy video is in favour of "I'll Be." Get those votes in! The poll closes on Wednesday.

November 6,1999

Big ting's a g'wan like...

Weekend, y'all. Can you believe I did a full week of daily News updates non stop? I must be really spoiling you guys, and Def Jam should be very ashamed of themselves for not giving us any Foxy News for months. What's going on here?!

Well anyways, Nature's forthcoming album has a few pirated songs on the Internet now. I hear they are off the hook. No release date, but Foxy's on one of them. Don't ask me the details, I haven't heard it yet. Personally I like Nature's lyrical skills, but he is very far from versatile. Y'all heard Nature on "In Too Deep," he always sounds the same. Cormega on the other hand is one of the most underrated rappers of the decade. People shouldn't be sleeping on his skills, didja check his joint with Fox, "Slow Down '98?" It's on the Def Jam Live album, Survival of the Illest.

Hope you've been loving the design changes to my site, or am I going a bit too far? Do you find the site takes too long to load? Remember I'm doing this for you people, and possibly for Foxy, so I need feedback. Well, I guess that's it for today, have a good weekend, people.

November 5,1999

Broke? Tell me wha' ya want, whoa...

Y'all gotta check out Nicky$' new Foxy site, it's nice. We're trying to believe that Foxy Brown herself actually signed his guestbook, which actually isn't that unlikely. She did say she checks out her fan sites occasionally on a radio interview last January. If it really was her, she mentioned that her third album comes out sometime this February.

I'm hearing Foxy and Queen Latifah are cool now, and I even heard they did some kind of underground song together, but that's all rumors. They say she and Latifah were laughing it up and drinking together at Pepa and Treach's wedding.

Oh yeah, that Christina Aguilera remix is definitely not real. It was mixed by a German teenage boy who is apparently very good at what he does. That remix sounded so authentic, he had me fooled for a while. But Foxy's old voice kinda gave it away. Yet it's always nice to hear something new from her, even if it was dug up from an unreleased track that's a couple years old. The mp3 is gone, but you can still download the realaudio version in my audio section.

Yo I'm having fun watching Kim and Foxy fans battle it out in the messageboard. Who do you think would win a freestyle battle, Kim or Foxy? I'm all for Foxy of course, not because I'm Anti-Kim or anything but just because I find Foxy freestyles even better than she writes. Not only that, but she flows sicker like...

I like my lyric of the day today. At first I thought it was "Nubian Chanel Purse" but it's actually "Luger in Chanel purse." A Luger is a 9mm pistol that, of course, fits in a purse. Maybe I'm not ghetto enough, but I never knew what a Luger was until I looked it up recently. That's not the first time Foxy's used the word either. Check the genie in a bottle thing, she says it twice.

November 4,1999

Ah me dey ah see when they want truthness...

A whole lotta female rappers in the game. Anyway, the new issue of Blaze magazine apparently has a feature on the status of Foxy Brown and Lil' Kim's friendship. So If you pick it up let me know because I haven't read it yet.

Foxy Brown is also in the new Honey Magazine. I hear Lil' Kim really trashes Foxy in her cover story. Kim talks about how they "never were friends" and that she had to "separate the good from the evil." She also says that she believes in loyalty and respect and that Foxy needs to seek it. Lemme know if I'm wrong, I haven't picked up the magazine yet.

I'd just like to know what is up with Lil Kim these days. She's looking fly and all, but if it isn't the blond wig or the chest full of silicone, it's these new blue contact lenses. Who does she feel she is, Britney Spears?! I'm just playin, I got luv for Kim, and I'm definitely gonna buy her album when it comes out, so let her do her thing. I guess I shouldn't make any comments like that seeing how a lot of Kim fans come to this site.

Funny other thing, I hear there's an ad in some magazine for Charli Baltimore's clothing line that says "Comin' in this game on some modellin' shit" above the picture. That's hilarious!! Do you get it? That just cracks me up. You go Charli Baltimore.

And Finally, I'll end with the lyrics to Foxy Brown's part on the Christina Aguilera remix in my audio section. I typed this up myself but I'm not entirely sure if it's 100% accurate.

And y'all will see me
Frontin' in the scene ice style
With all my Firm-binos nigga,
bet we dice-stylin' on the low
My steez, kisses the threes
And triple these
And six figures of threes
And chrome jet-skis
Chillin on the villa
Stackin my Scrilla with a Luga Luga
The nine ruga, italiano
With some Columbian cats
Bubblin' my stacks,
The richest
Mr and Missus
B-Double, Brown

November 3,1999

Greetings and salutations. First I'd like to clear up something really big about the song I posted yesterday. Needless to say, the song is definitely butta and may become very popular very fast. However, Foxy's verse on the song isn't new. That's why what you heard was the voice that she had on Ill Na Na. No, Foxy doesn't have control over her voice and no, she's never tried to sound like Lil' Kim. Just had to clear that up before people start making noise. Her verse is actually from an unreleased remix of a song she did with the Late Notorious B.I.G. a few years ago. When I heard Jay-Z's part, I suspected that this was not necessarily an "official" remix, although it might be. The songs were just arranged together, so for all we know Christina Aguilera may not even know who Foxy Brown is. Personally I think the song is pure hotness nonetheless. I didn't even like Christina Aguilera and now I can't even get her out of my head.

Also, you should know that the audio section may get shut down soon, if my server finds out that I'm allowing copyrighted audio to be downloaded (which is illegal). Music is only allowed to be streamed when on the Internet. We'll see what happens but don't be surprised if my whole site becomes temporarily unavailable, just because of that. Just a warning because it's happened to me before.

November 2, 1999

What's up people?! I bet you're wondering where I got that hot new remix featuring Foxy! My little secret... hehe. It's a wicked song and Foxy has some nice lyrics. I won't spoil it for you, check it yourself. Remember where you heard it.

In other news, remember last January Ms. Brown told the Source about a tentative remake of the 1974 Pam Grier Blaxploitation film that gave Foxy her name? Well apparently she was talking about her starring role in the new movie while on tour. Props go out to those who heard about this at a concert in L.A. Can't wait to see Fox on the big screen. Even if you only saw the intro to 'Big Bad Mama' or the 'I Can't' video, you know this girl's got acting skills for days. Don't forget she has experience, since she was in the movie "Woo" starring Jada Pinkett-Smith. She also has a rare song that not many people know of on that soundtrack too, but I don't remember what it's called.

November 1, 1999

New month, new news page. You might wanna click on "October 1999" for last months news, it wasn't too shabby a month for Fox Boogie.

About the site, notice that I put frames. I may also put up a Pics section after all. You'll just have to be patient with the audio though, seeing how I still don't know how I'm gonna go about that.

I found out recently that Foxy's brother Nino Brown is on a new compilation CD called "Eastside's Most Wanted, for anyone who's interested. He's featured in two tracks on there. Also, several months ago Vibe Online announced that Nino would be coming out with his own album on Interscope. Haven't heard anything since, but when it comes out that should be a nice surprise. Foxy's gonna be on it for sure. Nino isn't too bad an emcee, but I kinda find he sounds a bit too much like Jermaine Dupri for my taste. At this point I'm only liking him cuz he's related to my girl.

Got news, rumors, questions or comments, direct them to me! Hate mail appreciated. I love a good laugh.
