News, Rumours and Random Thoughts |
March 21, 2001 I told you I would change the page. It's not much better, but at least it's different, and change is good. To celebrate the reuinion of Thelma and Louise, enjoy this new comic series that'll hopefully continue on a regular basis. I got the idea while watching reruns of the 80's Hulk TV show, if you didn't notice. Also added some science, enjoy that too.
Thelma and Louise
Rumor has it that Kim and Foxy met for coffee on Monday and were all smiles. So just like that they're friends again? I sincerely hope not. I'm told that Chuck Dogg of Hot97 FM reported this, thanks to Remy for the 411.
That Thong Th-Thong Thong Thong
So Sisqo doesn't like the remix. Join the club, guy. He was on TV speaking about being conned into something he didn't want to for the song with Foxy and wasn't too pleased in the end. He wanted to do a real remix with different beats and lyrics, but it was all rushed at the eleventh hour under Def Jam's direction. Too bad.
What Ya'll Want
Turns out the song wasn't just a mixtape thing. It will be on Az's album in May. Cop that. |

I just got more information than I can possibly handle for one update, so I PROMISE I'll add some more stuff (and site changes) a little later. Let's jump right into this.
BROKEN SILENCE, the first interview... MTV.com feature
Thanks to Lamont, for pointing this out on the board... (At first I just ignored you not only cuz you're Anti-Fox, but because she already had a feature there.)
This one is for Broken Silence though, and it has A TON of information. Some tracks and what they're about, her thoughts on the shooting, her thoughts on Kim, people she worked with, etc. It's really overwhelming to have all these questions suddenly answered like that. She even talks about not hearing from Jay-Z and the Firm in a while.
The truce with Kim is legit, because of the CNN shooting. She says she nearly went crazy when they started putting her name in the stories, because Kim being involved wasn't interesting enough for the media the first few days the shooting started making headines.
I love how Foxy apologized to her fans for dissing Kim when she had nothing but love for Kim on radio and interviews. Lil' Kim was the one who wouldn't stop dissing her every chance she got. Foxy said she felt it was time to finally defend herself and now she has regrets about doing it.
Also more info on Inga as opposed to Foxy, she herself outlines the differences. Back in 98 she told the Source that they were the same person, but she's done some soul searching between albums and knows more about who she is.
Did you know "Bang Bang" was recorded almost a year ago, last June? Whoa. That and more is all there, go check it out. The pictures are SO HOT!!! You can also see and hear the interview with audio and video clips.
My Thoughts is that it's really weird the way she said everything I've been thinking all this time. Like on the Broken Silence Intro-Track, *SPOILER WARNING* she calls out the media and plays all these audio clips of the industry dissing her, *END SPOILER* something like that was gonna be the intro to one of my homemade Foxy mixtapes, and I can't believe she actually did it.
That interview really amped me for the album. What I personally liked about it is that it wasn't biased, it was up close and personal with Fox. Remember when Blaze wrote the article without interviewing her and said all that shit? Or the way Vibe wouldn't get off her case?? This is great. Broken Silence is gonna be da bomb!!! Can't wait until June!

Before I bring up the latest news on Foxy's "give up now before I kick your ass in June" offer to her arch-nemesis, I have a funny story to share with you guys. Did you notice my webpage was "unavailable" on Thursday evening? That's because Tripod deleted it. I only found out when I got mail from their abuse department, reprimanding me for hosting Lil' Kim's pornographic movie clips on their server. Ain't that a bitch. I know EXACTLY who's grinning about that right now too. Fortuneately, I had the site backed up on three other websites. But unfortuneately, I still lost the search engine and citation in all the hoopla. Plus I've got to figure out how to get rid of the popups all over again. It's going to be trickier without Tripod, gotta retrieve that new entrance page too. In other site news, I am obviously getting lazy with the updates. Eventually they will be so infrequent you may not want to check out the page for anything but the messageboard (as if that isn't already the case) but until then I'll do my best. I got some hot science from Carmen Jones this update, and speaking of that section, a BDC Spyderz reunion is planned. The Citation section is updated with lyrics to "Oh Yeah" thanks to a messageboard collaborative effort. Now that biz is taken care of, on with the news.
Foxy ends the beef before violence claims them both
The CNN shooting scared us all, and Foxy wants no part of it. She first covered her ass by issuing a statement saying she "was not involved in any way" in the incident. "I have absolutely no knowledge or understanding as to why such a senseless and violent act took place," she said, adding that her thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his family. Then, on Extra last night, Foxy had some things to say about the shooting that surprised us all. For direct quotes and more, I believe you can check Chris and FoxBrownBoy's pages once again for the details.
My opinion, Foxy won the battle against Kim, and it's nice to see she's trying to end the conflict amicably. But if this is all legit, the album will probably be pushed back even further to edit out all the Kim disses, much to my chagrin. I want to hear hardcore battle rhymes and Kim bashing, and will be seriously disappointed if this isn't granted to me and the very few who agree.
MTV News report on the truce:
from MTV news:
In the wake of the shooting that took place outside the offices of New York hip-hop radio station Hot 97 on February 25, Foxy Brown wants to bury the hatchet with rap rival Lil' Kim.
"I really don't know how it started," Brown told MTV News on Monday (March 5) of the feud, which is believed to have fueled the shooting incident. "But Russell [Simmons] and I, we got together, and I said, 'Russell, I want to call a truce.'
"I want to have a sit-down with Kim," she continued. "I don't care what it is. Let's just end it. We can even do a collaboration. We're bigger than this. If it has to start with me, let it start with me."
Brown claimed that Simmons (chairman of her label, Def Jam/Def Soul) extended an olive branch to Lil' Kim's camp, who "weren't responsive."
Calls to Lil' Kim's manager were not returned as of press time.
Despite the verbal volleying, Brown said on Monday that she never paid much mind to the rivalry with Kim. "It didn't bother me, 'cause I was OK with myself," she explained. "I didn't have to ridicule anybody to feel better about myself. ... It's not important to me. I don't worry about what Kim does. I set the tone for what Foxy does."
Foxy In The Source
As usual, thanks to Keith for the following newsbriefs. Foxy made the April issue of The Source., shes got a photo in the studio with AZ and her cousin Clark Kent. They've listed her album as "Breaking The Silence" In the Sneak Previews section with a release date of June 19.
Oh Yeah, Baby
Props to Keith for posting his local news about the luv Foxy got for her song "Oh Yeah" last Thursday night. On the same station she cursed out (the one that boycotted her music not too long ago in Philly) they had to play it twice in half an hour, just to keep up with callers requests and praises of the hot new song with the hypnotic hook on Power 109.
And Finally
The Professional Part II is out, I think. It's being promoted majorly, but kind of embarassing for Foxy and her fans that "So Hot" is the song she's putting out there. Some comeback.
March 1, 2001
This has been an insane week newswise, I apologize for not exactly coming through... here goes.
Tales of The Stupid
Now Lil' Kim is trying to be a thug because she didn't like Bang Bang? Oh, come on now. There was gunfire bustin' among Capone's entourage earlier this week leaving one guy shot in the back, and most if not all sources claim Lil' Kim was involved, and it may have been over the verse that Foxy Brown spit, yeah the one that killed her lyrically. Only now it's apparently killing people physically. I wont post any news about it because it's everywhere already. I suggest you check mtvnews.com or even better, FoxBrownBoy has compliled all the articles so far very nicely on his page in a nice visual format with pictures and all. Check out his Articles seection. This was a real shocker to everyone because Kim and Foxy are in the headlines when their beef actually being related to the shooting is merely speculation.
I had to mention this because even up here in Boonieville Canada we have a huge photo of Kim and the article in the local paper. A lot of people are comparing this to 2Pac and Biggie, and Foxy saying that Beef is "when broads think it's sweet, she lets her gat release" on her new song isn't helping. No matter what happens, however tragic, I won't stop loving the Ill Na Na. Unfortuneately, all the publicity from this shooting is just gonna make Foxy sound like a maddrapper when she comes out, as most of the album will *SPOILER WARNING* be dissing Lil' Kim *END SPOILER*
OH YEAH
Reggaemantic, this song, Foxy's first single, reminds me of Shyne's Bad Boy Anthem. I really like this, it's mellow and thug at the same time. The beat is wicked and Foxy plays it cool. The edited version is friendly with the censors, and this song is another Kim diss definitely, like when she says "You're an industry chick, I'm an indu-streets chick". Man I love this song and I'm glad Def Jam isn't going to let heads sleep on this one. Great for a first single, definitely. Listen to it on the homepage or click here.
Another Song to Make Broken Silence
Props to Keith for posting this news, he's obviously got a good source... *SPOILER WARNING* (Yes, I'm going to put spoiler warnings now, because if you're like me you don't actually like hearing exclusive album info and really wanna be surprised when the album hits stores soon, although it's tough when you're the webmaster-- another reason for me to slack on the updates) Anyway, Foxy Brown did a remake of "Saddest Day of My Life" featuring Wayne Wonder, on some more reggae vibes while Foxy gets emotional. *This is confirmed to be on Broken Silence. *END SPOILER*
Hot on the heels of her controversial verse from Capone-N-Noreaga's "Bang Bang," Foxy Brown is gearing up for the release of her still-untitled third album, which is scheduled to arrive in June.
The Brooklyn rapper is still recording songs for the follow-up to Chyna Doll, which will include the single "Oh Yeah." It's likely she'll touch on her ongoing rivalry with Lil' Kim, although a Def Jam publicist would say only that a lot of issues will be addressed on the new album.
The war of words between Brown and one-time friend (and fellow Brooklyn rapper) Lil' Kim has been brewing since Brown, who made her first appearance in 1995 on L.L. Cool J's "I Shot Ya" single, emerged months after Kim debuted as a part of Junior M.A.F.I.A. that same year.
Chyna Doll was released in 1999 and featured Brown seemingly mimicing Kim's throaty delivery; Kim dissed Brown (and others) with her verse on the remix for Mobb Deep's "Quiet Storm (White Lines)," which was released later that year. Brown fired back with a biting verse about Kim on Capone-N-Noreaga's "Bang Bang" which was the talk of the underground last summer.
