April 2001 News, Rumours and Random Thoughts

April 26, 2001

I've never seen so much Foxy news drop so fast... I can't keep up at all. If you want it any sooner, just check the other top sites, I know you can't wait for Dawg. Added some pics that were posted on the board (thanks Naas)... welcome to all the newbies and so forth. Enjoy the goodness.

Random Thought
People want Foxy to sell, but don't want her to turn into some fake or commercial hip-POP icon that'll get messed up in some glam-girl image. Which is why I say Foxy better fill her pockets this June to pay the bills, but not find herself rolling in dough like the Firm Biz video. Because we know the album will be hot regardless and it would suck if that went to Inga's head and swelled it too much.

Jamaica, baby!
No better place to flip a lil' Patoi for the official single and new video, Oh Yeah. You know she'll look hot in the land of sea and sunshine (actually that's Trinidad, but you know what I mean). May 15 is the date, seen?

Notorious D.I.M.
I've never really heard Kim in an audio interview, but someone posted one on the board that shows she's pretty triflin, recorded atound the time her album dropped. Of course she's dissing Foxy saying that she's trying to be her and that she better watch what she says. Oh yeah, and that they were never really friends, according to her. Sure Kim. She disses Shyne too. I won't post the link, it's not worth it.

BK Anthem Chart Tops
The song is getting mad airplay, but I haven't even heard it even once on my local station. I also heard the new edited version but it really sucks compared to the one that has Clue screaming all over it like a wild banshee. Clue's version sounded much more hardcore, and I don't know why she's afraid to say ODB's name. The song is rising on the Hot 5 at 4 on Hot 97, which has to be a good thing.

BET Details
For the entire month of May, Foxy will be hosting the Black Cinema specials on BET with Snoop Dogg!! I better get my illegal satellite system by then so I can finally watch BET, G-Dawg don't even have cable yo... but using a smart card I should be able to get over 400 channels by next week, and I'll keep you posted if no one else beats me to the job. There will be six movies, and Foxy will be in 6 hot outfits, so it's a MUST SEE.

The Movie Business
You know I still haven't rented Woo? Shame, and Foxy had a pretty big role in there for a cameo appearance I hear. Oh well, be sure to catch that, but the big news floating around now is that Ja Rule has just signed a deal with Violator Films to star in the 2002 film, "N.A.R.C", alongside Busta Rhymes & Kurt Russell with cameos from YOU KNOW WHO... tha Brown Fox. Rah Diggah, her good friend is in the movie too. This news came from Crisco and Prada from Y2Hiphop.com. Big Ups. This better not be bogus like the "How Stella..." news and Charlie's Angels. (Can't believe I actually believed that one.)

MTV appearance next Thursday
Hopefully Foxy will show up this time. She'll be hosting a four hour countown of Hip Hop's most influential videos with behind-the-scenes and stuff next week. The better have the Roots "What they Do" video on there, that's the best one of all time. The countdown will be from 12 to 4 Eastern Standard Time.

And Finally...
The new SOURCE COVER is out today! I know that as I type this, everyone's scrambling for a copy, and the other sites are scanning the hot photos and stuff. Well one of y'all send the digitized pics to me, cuz I don't have a scanner. I'll buy the issue anyway, but I'm pissed that they cancelled my subscribtion for who knows why. Anyway, the interview is supposedly in depth and huge, she talks about everything. And all our questions are answered at long last.

Napster Takes A Nap
I know you're getting sick of my cheesy little headlines, but I didn't know what else to put. Foxy has been added to Napster's blacklist of filtered recording artists, joining the likes of Nas, Janet, Dre and many others. The crackdown is in full effect, and it will hopefully help Foxy do well in sales next month.

One last thing-- a few people have already got the Broken Silence Tracklisting posted, but I won't share that with you, I know you wanna be surprised. But you won't be able to read a single article without being spoiled this month, so we'll see.

April 21, 2001

Well, what do you think? You people wanted a new look. Anyway, I've gotta run so no time for idle chit chat, but expect more to come. Some quick news briefs..

Tour Info
More news from Red, The ill Na Na Entertainment Crew will begin with a Promo tour, followed by a major tour and ending with a personal BROKEN SILENCE tour. They better not miss my city like last time they came up here.

BET on it..
Foxy will be hosting BET segments during May. Look out for that. Thanks Mayo for the 411.

BK Anthem Single... or not.
Turns out BK anthem isn't actually an "official" single, it's just the buzz for Oh Yeah, which will be gettin to stations if it hasn't already. That doesn't explain the video though, but anyway.

I gotta split-- catch y'all later. I was gonna add more Science freestyles but I'll get to that later. Peace.

April 14, 2001

Apologies are in order for just disappearing the last two weeks, I've been busy as usual but I'm still alive. Another Ill Na Na Entertainment cohort to grace the board, Red, from the DJ Envy freestyle, thanks for showing up. I believe Foxy herself also posted a note at one point, if it's really you and you're here on the regular, I'm beyond grateful and I can now die a happy man. Adam of Def Jam is also on the board on a regular basis to answer your questions about the album. Thank you all, especially Foxy, whose baby should be my son. A lot of news so let's get into this shiznit!

J.M y'all, Biggie Would Not Be Proud
Dear God, that's just sad. What does JM stand for? Jerk Mother... no, actually it stands for Junior Mafia and they have a new song out that calls Foxy by name, saying her breath smells like Trife's cum or something. They're trying desperately to get attention, to the point where I'm not sure they're even worth the mention here.

New Foxy Freestyle
The Ill Na Na Entertainment crew have a new freestyle for DJ Envy's May Mixtape. They'll be on the intro! Look out, it drops in a couple weeks. Thanks to the one and only Red himself for the firsthand news.

BK Anthem Video soon.
They've already reviewed the first draft. They're gonna give BET and MTV a month of goodness, learning from Kim's "Notorious" mistake I suppose.

Foxy/Kim Unity Day Friday April 20
This is brought to you and organized by NINO of the most popular Thelma and Louise site. SO on Friday, chill off the hating and admit that you like both without making sarcastic remarks or bashing comments on either end. I'll do my best.

New Song Addresses EVERYONE
Everyone is going bonkers over the new West-Indian song that's got a hype beat and hardcore rhymes. Listen to it at Y2HIPHOP.com, it's phat. Not to diss because I know Foxy (and company) is reading, but I'm a Trini, and Foxy's a Trini, and we don't sound like that, what she did is more Jamaican than anything else. I love it though.

This track talks a lot about certain people, and she is definitely putting herself in hot water when she tries to (insert dramatic music here)... out a gay rapper. In the beginning she talks about how some guy is a batti man and if he won't talk, she'll bust his secret. (Fluffy, Gay-Z, Nutz?) We know it has to be someone specific, so you can decide.

The song has a number of references to "a new man", where she implies that someone, not Kurupt, is the new guy with backstage passes to the platinum NaNa. But I won't assume anything because you know what happens when you assume.

I'm really glad that she's still dissing Kim. Truce schmuce, that's the Incredible FOX. Something about Missy I guess when she says the words of the week, she mentions TWO BROADS. Missy's going a little overboard on the accent thing on her latest remix. Eve , Da Brat and Rah Diggah have started doing it to, so you can't really specify the reference.

Don't forget the Kim and Puffy diss when she says she's the baddest bitch in the game and wouldn't fuck with a nigga half her status. She's really not holding anything back on this one. The song is produced by reggae legend Dave Kelly and will be on the album.

Photo Shoot
The photo shoot was done on Thursday for the hot new album. Promotional ads will be running soon. They've got a phat campaign with a new slogan, and Foxy has a new look. Sounds grr-reat!

I'll add more eventally but that's it for now. Take care! Again, thanks to Red for keeping and eye on us and giving us all the 411 answering the questions and all. I don't care about spoilers any more. Oh yeah, finally I'll leave you with an exclusive pic of Foxy and Spragga Benz on tour with her crew. Big ups to Marcus for this picture, you da man. Be sure to check out his site and the others, they're hot.

April 5, 2001

Why won't my website load in Netscape?? Oh well... I'm still working on it. Turns out a lot of you are just getting a blank page. Changed the background music to the first single, which is getting much more love. Be sure to check Nino's AOL interview with Gavin aka Prety Boy, who actually DOES NOT go by "Nino Brown" anymore. I'll stop calling him that, even though I thought it was a cool name. You've seen New Jack City right? But I digress. Major spoilers, thelmaandlouise.cjb.net.

Another thing...while this board is very popular and all, I just wanna ask people to please cut down on the SPAM for other sites. At the moment I understand though, turns out that the DJ crew are looking at all the Foxpages. If you're a webmaster, Foxy's eyes will be on your work soon. Turns out she's just maxing and relaxing, the album is finally DONE.

BK Anthem The First Single
The video was shot yesterday and today in downtown BK, according to DefJam.com. Foxy thugs it out. Again, details on what she's wearing and what the video is about are at Nino's page. Parts of Oh Yeah are being shot there as well. According to Pretty Boy, there are about ten songs that can be considered for first singles, so the album will be hot.

Foxy & Flex
Wow... break ups to makeups. Everyone Foxy had beef with has come to their senses. Well, almost. Since Chyna Doll there's been Queen Latifah, Charli Baltimore, Power99 & Philly and now Funkmaster Flex. Turns out they did have beef but it was settled shortly thereafter. Thanks Carmen Jones for the 411. Now if only Siegel, Kim and Nas would settle their scores.

Wild Rumor Out There That...
Charli Baltimore will be coming out with an album off of Ill Na Na Entertainment. Doubt it though.

Other News Snippitz (SPOILERS, Confirmed!)
So, according to Nino's page, here's a few more key points from Gavin:

  • Foxy Brown WRITES HER SHIT. Gavin is of course the eyewitness to her notepad. What will the haters use as their defense now? All i've got to say is, "If she writes her shit, you must acquit."
  • The Kim disses were written long ago, so by this time they have been changed. Her brother says the songs sound better now with the edits anyway.
  • There will be two singles from the album before it drops.

  • Trivia: the album was originally gonna be called "Silence of The Lambs" with Foxy supposedly on the cover making a Hannibal face. The metaphor being that lambs are followers in the flock, and Foxy's supposedly shutting them all up. You know the obvious reason why they didn't go with that as planned. Thank GOD. Damn good movie, by the way.

    April Fool's Day, 2001

WHOA... I am so pumped about all the latest going's on... Foxy is getting love left and right, even Vibe warmed up to her. Site-wise, I must say the biggest honour thus far was having Gavin Marchand and his Def-Jam cohorts finally give me a look see early this weekend. And everyone keeps coming with the news. I'm lovin' that. Be sure to check the links section and main five pages in the drop down menu bar on the homepage. To celebrate the goodness, everyone who is blocked on the board is now allowed access again. Some of you have been blocked for almost two years. SO, the messageboard might be a little chaotic to deal with at first for those who still haven't learned their lesson when they got blocked in the first place. Also, most of the audio has been reuploaded, I'm still working on it. Peace.

    The Source!
Thanks Shareef for the news on the magazine possibly running a feature in their June Issue. Will she make the cover? I sure fuckin' hope so.

    Queen Pen mouthing off
Guess who's talking shit, queen pen. Somehow I'm unphased. Back in the day I'd get pissed when someone disses Fox, but since she's battled Kim back into hiding and come hardcore, it honestly doesn't matter to me. Pen is dissing Foxy all over her forthcoming album, especially in a song called "What's Your Problem". Thanks Lil' Mama.

    Flex and Foxy
Whatever rumors there were about Flex boycotting Foxy or dissing her may now rest in peace. The man won't stop bumping BK anthem every chance he gets, and giving it props, saying how big it is in the tunnel. You can hear the song on the radio endlessly, and now everyone knows Foxy is back and she ain't makin' joke this time.

    Oh Yeah
Thanks to Foxy Dawg for letting us know it can be pre-ordered at cdnow.com. Vinyl only, that's vintage yo. Pump that in your RECORD PLAYER, it's for the TURNTABLES, playa.
