Happy Belated Bithday Gav!! (August 5th) Shout outs to my dawg Jason for hooking us up with an excellent review of a concert I could have gone to but didn't because... oh, I won't mention it cause I'll just piss myself off! Also big-ups to Miss Thang for the exclusive INStyle photos (the ones with "Oh Yeah" behind the scenes, now in the pics section). The new haterade is hilarious, you'll notice I don't reply to them anymore, because some of them are just so hilariously assinine that they speak for themselves. I love the ones from die-hard fans of the Queen "used to" Bee the most, LOL. As much as everyone hates the new messageboard I want to experiment with this one and be original with it, it was awesome NOT having haters pop bull every day, not to mention all the goodness of the features ikonboard has. I think it just takes getting used to. Onto the news.

Foxy Brown has a dirty mouth. She likes Gucci boots, Prada loafers and Range Rovers with chauffeurs. She represents Brooklyn to the end, and she's proud of the fact that the industry hasn't made her soft. On the cover of her new album, Broken Silence, she's wearing a naughty little denim bikini, and if you put the front cd cover on top of the back cover in the tray you get a full length Foxy Brown poster.
The bikini might be skimpy, but the rhymes ain't. Her style is serious, rough-and-tumble East Coast. If you like your raps light on the street side, this is not the album for you. Foxy says it best in a dis to lightweight female rappers, "you're an industry bitch, I'm an in-the-street bitch." That theme of success versus hood-ness keeps coming back over the course of the album. So does Brooklyn, Biggie, 2Pac, Prada, Gucci, Def Jam, na na and drama. That's one big collar she's poppin'. Brown bills herself as some sort of super rappin' sex treat with a fetish for designer shoes.
As far as music production goes, Foxy and crew play the style-bending game to a tee. The most successful tracks are ones like "Fallin'" and "Hood Scriptures," where she raps over straight up Arab-Pop grooves that would be right at home in any Brooklyn gyro-cery store. Reggae and Dancehall are employed liberally and always in good taste. On "7:30," she uses a Moog keyboard sample from the Styx song "Light Up," which in this context would normally be hilarious except that it so effectively creates a relentless kinetic texture that the whole song is simultaneously tense and triumphant.
"Candy" is the obvious stand out, club-rocker track that'll put this album on everyone's radar, even though the more forgettable "B.K. Anthem" has been released as the first single. On "'Bout My Paper," another fun one, rap goblin Mystikal screams his way through a few choruses, and Foxy makes a guest appearance. So whether you drive an Escalade or an Escort, Broken Silence will make your woofers wallop and your tweeters twist in some new ways that might surprise you. Just don't let your mom hear you singing along with the words or you might get your mouth washed out with soap.

We don't know what it's about, but Jason, fellow fan, went to the Guverment concert and said they had a huge camera crew there. Either it was footage for Candy, or Def Jam is putting together a "Foxy Live" video for the peoples! We'll see!
The Next Single is...
Tables Will Turn! This is word straight out of Gav's mouth in Toronto. So that's what you have to look forward to after Candy. Satisfied? Me too. Anything would do as a single for me right now, I'm loving the whole album. I would have said Run Dem, but there miight be a lil' too much battle rap and negativity on that one to put it out as a massive release. Same deal with 730 and Hood Scriptures. Def Jam knows what they're doing, trust.
Kurupt's Kunfession
Kurupt had a lot to say about Foxy on Philly radio yesterday, on controversial rap station Power99. Big shoutouts to resident news chief Keith for the low-down about this on the board. Not only did he say that Inga was his first and longest love of 4 years, but that they broke up because she was "sucking the wrong popsicle". No, he's not talking about frozen treats! His story is that after he heard rumors about Foxy and DMX at a local club (check his second to last Source interview for details), they split, then decided to break the silence (no pun intended) with a truth session. Foxy went first about her "messing around with X" but when Kurupt told his story, she flipped and their relationship tore apart. Wendy Williams, who was hosting the interview, shared stories about an overprotective Foxy cussin' out a chick who wanted his autograph and trying to run over a Power99 staff member who was leaning on his side. Take it how you want, but some parts of this news is a bit more credible than others. As an aside, Natina is a few months pregnant with his FIFTH child, but whoa, the man is only 27.
New Guest Appearances!
It is rumoured that Foxy Brown will be on Erick Sermon's forthcoming album... and rapper Ray Benzino's this fall. Check Big Kap's latest mixtape for disses aimed at Kim and Natina Reed. Red and INN crew are all on there. It was a recorded freestyle from 96.1... thanks to Prada for the 411.
