Happy Belated Bithday Gav!! (August 5th) Shout outs to my dawg Jason for hooking us up with an excellent review of a concert I could have gone to but didn't because... oh, I won't mention it cause I'll just piss myself off! Also big-ups to Miss Thang for the exclusive INStyle photos (the ones with "Oh Yeah" behind the scenes, now in the pics section). The new haterade is hilarious, you'll notice I don't reply to them anymore, because some of them are just so hilariously assinine that they speak for themselves. I love the ones from die-hard fans of the Queen "used to" Bee the most, LOL. As much as everyone hates the new messageboard I want to experiment with this one and be original with it, it was awesome NOT having haters pop bull every day, not to mention all the goodness of the features ikonboard has. I think it just takes getting used to. Onto the news.
MSN.com/Windows Media Review -Anutha Good One!! The bikini might be skimpy, but the rhymes ain't. Her style is serious, rough-and-tumble East Coast. If you like your raps light on the street side, this is not the album for you. Foxy says it best in a dis to lightweight female rappers, "you're an industry bitch, I'm an in-the-street bitch." That theme of success versus hood-ness keeps coming back over the course of the album. So does Brooklyn, Biggie, 2Pac, Prada, Gucci, Def Jam, na na and drama. That's one big collar she's poppin'. Brown bills herself as some sort of super rappin' sex treat with a fetish for designer shoes. As far as music production goes, Foxy and crew play the style-bending game to a tee. The most successful tracks are ones like "Fallin'" and "Hood Scriptures," where she raps over straight up Arab-Pop grooves that would be right at home in any Brooklyn gyro-cery store. Reggae and Dancehall are employed liberally and always in good taste. On "7:30," she uses a Moog keyboard sample from the Styx song "Light Up," which in this context would normally be hilarious except that it so effectively creates a relentless kinetic texture that the whole song is simultaneously tense and triumphant. "Candy" is the obvious stand out, club-rocker track that'll put this album on everyone's radar, even though the more forgettable "B.K. Anthem" has been released as the first single. On "'Bout My Paper," another fun one, rap goblin Mystikal screams his way through a few choruses, and Foxy makes a guest appearance. So whether you drive an Escalade or an Escort, Broken Silence will make your woofers wallop and your tweeters twist in some new ways that might surprise you. Just don't let your mom hear you singing along with the words or you might get your mouth washed out with soap. ~D.L. Brogan, MSN Music

New Guest Appearances! That's it for now. |

Well it's been about a week since the new board, and guess what, besides a few technical difficulties, there have been no problems with haters or anything, and the caps lock posts don't even seem to matter anymore with the new format. The board also has its own flood control feature, so it's all good. But you still have to check out the poll and vote for whether you want it or not, we're still in a democracy after all. I also have to send MAD shoutouts to Danny who provided me with the pop-up removal code. I do not condone forced advertising, and neither should you! Until further notice, do not use Netscape for this site, because you'll get the popups with that, but if you must I strongly recommend Netscape version 6.1 Preview Release. it has a few bugs, but it's awesome. Better than MSIE5.5 I'd say.
Foxy in September Honey Magazine -NOT!
We've been had! There is no sign of Foxy in the new issue of Honey Magazine. We have no idea what happened, and until someone from Ill Na Na decides to register on the forums (hint, hint) we'll never find out either. We suspect they had a falling out and dropped her like XXL's stunt earlier on. As a side note, XXL's new issue disses our girl yet again by saying something to the effect of "Y'all expected Foxy on the cover, but we don't interview artists who threaten the writing staff!" Yuk Yuk! I think I'm laughing myself into a coma. Thanks to Shareef for that 411.
Jay-Z Disses Foxy -NOT!
The bull that's flung around these days, but it's all good. Jay-Z disses evryone BUT Foxy on his new underground mixtape releases. In other news, Nas responds with a fiery attack to just one line.
Ebay Auctions
The Candy Single has been leaked on Ebay, but you can get it in Stores at the end of the month. Also Ebay is (or was rather, must be gone by now) auctionning an image of Foxy at last weeks MTV20 Concert show. I should have saved the pic, but she's there in a nice outfit and shades. (It's really good that we're getting a lot of candid Foxy images lately, it gives us a better idea of what she really looks like and how hot she is! Which reminds me, check out the eight pics from behind the scenes at the BK Anthem video shoot in my new pics section, on the left. Thanks to foxybrownfanatic for hooking us up with those on the board.) Anyway back to the headline, there is also an 18" by 60" promotional poster that you can buy off of the site if anyone's still selling it. I got mine already! It's a door-size image of the CD's front and back cover put together.
Foxy Performed In Chicago
...last night, headlining with a bunch of Reggae artists. Last week she was in Detroit. So she's already flying solo whether it's with AZ or not. Look for 1Life2Live's review of the show on the forum, he's the one down there who hooked us up with the 411.
New Site
If you're the owner of Foxy-Brown.Net, send us a shout on the "Other Sites" forum because I wanna know what this is about. Got a wicked flash design, and stole my original domain name!! (just kidding) Anyway, that site and LX's designs with flash animation have been added to the Links section, they're tight. I'm still learning flash, I've been using generators for now because Macromedia is a biatch to learn.
Other tidbits on the way but nothing earth shattering yet so I'll split. Later.
